Description
Designed by Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik and produced by HAY, the Backflip chair cleverly reimagines the folding chair. Its secret lies in a nearly invisible mechanism integrated into the backrest, which allows it to be folded and unfolded with a single fluid motion—for storage, hanging, or use as needed. Designed for modern life, it refuses to be merely a secondary or inferior seat: its appearance remains refined, and its comfort intact. Crafted from lacquered solid beech, complemented by a molded plywood backrest, Backflip follows the logic of the material and construction to achieve a pure and honest form, where aesthetics and ergonomics harmonize without compromise. Backflip fits naturally around a dining table as well as in a meeting room, a reception area, or any space where flexibility is an asset.
