Designed by Norwegian designer Andreas Bergsaker and produced by HAY, the Chisel 65 chair elegantly reimagines the classic molded plywood armchair. Its name, which means “chisel” in English, pays homage to this traditional woodworking tool, whose beveled edges are reflected in the very design of the base, with its slanted legs cut at sharp angles. Designed to stand the test of time, Chisel 65 was born from a simple desire: to design a solid wood chair with a bold silhouette that is both contemporary and timeless. The curved, enveloping seat and backrest provide natural support for the body, while the organic lines of the frame visually extend the flow of the base, striking a balance between artisanal precision and soft, flowing forms. Crafted from solid wood stained in a bold color, the frame highlights the richness of the wood’s grain while giving it a unique hue. Chisel 65 fits naturally into both residential and professional settings, whether around a dining table or in a reception area.
